Do I need to bring a partner to learn Salsa?
Partnering up is not required, but it can be fun to start a new activity with friends and family. We rotate partners in class. This helps improve social dancing technique and provide greater feedback. Upon registration, you will join your WhatsApp group of fellow learners. You’ll soon make lots of friends and have loads of fun.
I have never danced before. Is it easy to learn Salsa?
If you can walk, you can dance Salsa! Our teaching method ensures you dance by the end of the Beginners Level. Be consistent in your classes.
Do you offer trial classes?
You are welcome to visit our classes at any of the locations and see if the dance style and our teaching method suits you. We announce trial classes on our Instagram page from time to time.
I have learnt Salsa before. Which level can I join at?
Teaching methods, curriculum and levels can vary across dance schools. Our instructors can assess your current skill level and recommend the right level for you in our program.
What if I miss a class?
Consistent attendance is crucial for your learning progress. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. We start each class with a revision of steps. Please be on time so that you don't miss it.
Can I come for a cover-up session?
We share a detailed tutorial of steps after each class on the WhatsApp group. If you need more practice, we offer alternative options. Reach out to your instructor.
What about festivals/long weekends?
Our classes continue throughout the year. Many students look forward to dancing Salsa during their holidays. We schedule breaks around major festivals, such as Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Navratri, Christmas and New Year.
Is there a refund?
There is no refund after the confirmation of your registration. Registration is transferable to a friend or family member before the start of the batch.
I am not the fittest person in the world. Can I still dance Salsa?
We prioritise the safety & well-being of all our students. Our Beginners classes are friendly for people of all shapes and sizes. We provide appropriate breaks during class to avoid overexertion. Salsa is a low impact cardio activity. If you have any pre-existing health conditions which might affect your ability to take part, please consult with your general physician before enrolling.
I recently celebrated my 55th birthday. Will my age restrict me from learning Salsa?
Our Beginners classes often have participants across all age groups, from 16 to 60 years old. The intensity level in our Beginners classes cater to all age groups. Yet, please be aware of your body’s limitations and avoid pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone.
Do I need to buy special dance footwear?
To start with the Beginners level, you can wear a pair of socks. If you wish to continue dancing Salsa beyond that, Salsa shoes help you be better at your dancing. Investing in good Salsa footwear can be a worthwhile long-term decision.
How many levels are there?
In our Beginners and Improvers levels, you will learn the basics of Salsa. We cover fundamental techniques, etiquettes and combinations that you can dance with confidence. In the Intermediate and Advanced levels, we dive deeper into the Afro-Cuban roots of Salsa. We cover advanced Salsa dancing techniques, such as musicality, spins, body movement and styling.
How long will it take me to become good at Salsa?
Progress in your dancing skills varies depending on individual dedication and focused practice. You can achieve a Beginner level in Salsa dancing after 12 hours of classes. Our Improvers level students have been dancing for 4-9 months. Intermediate level for 9 to 16 months and Advanced Level dancers for more than 1.5 years.
I can’t commit 2/3 months to learn Salsa. Do you offer any special workshops or 1-day courses?
We offer various workshops for all the styles that we teach. Some workshops and crash courses are tailored for absolute beginners. You can enroll for other unique workshops after completing Beginners level.
Where are your classes located?
We offer group classes in Thane, Mulund and Powai. We update our class schedule on our website. For those living further away, our Mulund and Powai studios are accessible by train.
What are the fees for your Salsa classes?
The fees for our courses range from INR 4000-7000 depending on the style and location. Please contact us on WhatsApp at 9819050375. We can assist you with detailed pricing, and any ongoing discounts.
Can I take private classes?
We offer private classes. This can be helpful if you want to train specific skills or you are unable to attend group classes at any location. Contact us for available slots. We highly recommend dancing with different partners. Salsa socials and group classes will complement your learning from private classes.
Do you allow drop-ins for your classes?
You can drop-in if you have completed Improvers level with us. We offer individual class drop-ins and drop-in packages of 6/10/12 classes at all our locations.
What are Salsa Socials?
Salsa is a social dance form. Our students from all locations meet at Salsa socials. They socialise over food & drinks and practise all the techniques learnt in class. We host two social nights every month. They take place on the 2nd and 4th Monday night at MH04 The Drunk Yard, Thane, with Guest DJs. These socials are open for everyone to attend.
Can learning Salsa help me dance with people during my travels?
We teach Salsa On1, which is a popular social dancing style of Salsa in all major cities across the world. You can travel anywhere in the world and connect with the local salsa community for a warm welcome. There are very active salsa communities in many Indian cities. Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and many more.
If I join with my partner, can I dance only with them in class?
When you social dance with different people, you improve your technique faster and become a better dancer. We rotate partners in class, for those who are comfortable doing so. If you choose to dance only with your partner in class, our instructors will continue to provide the same level of attention to your progress.
Can I perform?
Depending on your level of interest, we provide opportunities to perform. Our teams perform at Salsa Socials and Dance Congresses across the country. To perform, you need to commit significant time to learn, rehearse and travel. Our performance batches will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone.
Do you teach other dance styles apart from Salsa?
We offer group classes in other Afro-Latin social dance styles, such as Bachata, Rueda de Casino, Ladies’ & Men’s Styling and Kizomba. These related dance styles complement Salsa and improve your social dancing skills.
